I have made a decision to leave the post of chairman of "European Georgia" - I cannot remain either in this parliamentary list or in this political team, - the chairman of "European Georgia", Giga Bokeria, announced this at the briefing.

According to Giga Bokeria, disagreement in the party was caused by the rules of conducting primaries.

According to him, the controversy on the mentioned topic revealed a completely unexpected value conflict with the general secretary of the party, Akaki Bobokhidze, and his supporting team.

"As is known to the public, intra-party primaries in European Georgia have been completed - in my opinion, despite all the flaws, it was an extremely positive process - pre-registered delegates chose the party's parliamentary list, which is a very rare precedent in Georgian political culture.

The competition was quite fierce, which is completely normal for the real primaries.

However, unfortunately, for one part of the party, both the results of the primaries and especially my position as the chairman of the party regarding the teams participating in the primaries turned out to be unacceptable.

In particular, I supported the team participating in the primaries, which contributed the lion's share to the implementation of important projects and the creation of new content of the party over the last three years, which significantly increased the support of European Georgia, and this is also confirmed by the research of our competitors.

In addition, the issue of who should have the right to participate in the primaries caused a significant difference of opinion.

According to my position, and according to the initial agreement of the party, only those persons who do not hesitate to publicly state their support for European Georgia should be able to do this.

Unfortunately, the Chairman of the Political Council Gigi Tsereteli, the General Secretary Akaki Bobokhidze and the majority of the members of the Political Council made a decision that undecided voters who did not want clear, public support for European Georgia would have the opportunity to participate in the primaries.

All this caused a serious controversy in the party, including the issue of the responsibility of the chairman or me.

I, as the chairman of the party, believe that in today's situation, when there is a campaign against "European Georgia" regarding "wasting votes and giving gifts to the regime", inciting this controversy, no matter what the outcome, makes it impossible to neutralize this propaganda, as well as from the party's side. to conduct a successful election campaign.

What is even more important, in the Georgian political spectrum there are already many parties that deceive their own voters, there are already many politicians who say one thing and do another.

"European Georgia" could offer society an alternative to this vicious practice.

Unfortunately, some of the party leaders decided to deviate from the chosen course and that is why our paths are divided here.

In the current situation, I cannot take responsibility for the voters regarding these parliamentary elections.

Therefore, I have made a decision to leave the post of the chairman of European Georgia and, accordingly, not to put forward my candidacy at the party congress scheduled for August 11.

At the same time, this controversy revealed a completely unexpected value conflict for me with my until then closest political partner Akaki Bobokhidze and his supporting team.

Therefore, I cannot remain either in this parliamentary list or in this political team.
