Tbilisi City Court fines Lelo secretary general 2500 GEL

The Tbilisi City Court fined Lelo secretary general Irakli Kupradze 2500 GEL. Kupradze is accused of disobeying the legal request of the policeman at the rally and petty hooliganism.

As lawyer Tornike Artmeladze stated after the session, they argued that Irakli Kupradze broke the police cordon, although the footage shows that Irakli Kupradze was standing with his hands up.

"It is impossible for anyone to see any violation of the law in Irakli Kupradze's actions. Unfortunately, none of our requests was granted, the most important of which was the request for video recordings. We provided photographs showing that there are cameras at the location, however no video footage has not been requested by the court. As for the policemen, they could not bring any evidence that any offense was committed by Irakli", said the lawyer.

Irakli Kupradze himself evaluated the decision of the Tbilisi City Court as a political persecution and retribution against him. As Kupradze told journalists after the session, the said decision was made by the judge on the basis of mutually exclusive decisions of the policemen.

The general secretary of Lelo and several other persons were arrested during the protests against the draft law "On transparency of foreign influence".
