Poroshenko’s adviser says Ukrainian lawmaker visited Tbilisi together with detained citizens of Ukraine

A member of the “Samopomoshchi” party, MP Semion Semenchenko, was visiting Tbilisi together with the citizens of Ukraine, who were detained in a special operation, but he managed to escape, - Yuri Biryukov, adviser of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, wrote on his Facebook page.

“I have different contacts and they confirmed the information that Semenchenko is in Tbilisi, he dragged us into the diplomatic scandal, he abandoned his people and escaped to the last moment," Biryukov wrote.

Ukrainian journalist Andrei Dzindzia also responded to this issue saying that Semenchenko was not detained because he had a diplomatic passport.

Police detained 7 citizens of Ukraine on Likhauri Street in Tbilisi on Sunday morning. An investigation is in progress under article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to purchase and possession of firearms, ammunition and explosive devices.
