FBI final report is not beneficial to Saakashvili’s team

The conclusive report from the FBI is far from being beneficial for Saakashvili’s team. They are simply trying to mislead the public and put psychological pressure on the family,”- claims Gogla Zhvania, former Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania’s brother.

According to him, the former authorities will achieve their goals by any means necessary, and to do so, they are spreading absurd rumors. As Mr. Zhvania alleges, by Saakashvili’s order, they spread false reports after Zurab Zhvania’s mysterious death,”-reports the Rezonansi publication.

Ex-premier’s former team member Elene Tevdoradze also maintains that disgraceful rumors were being spread regarding Zurab Zhvania under President Shevardnadze as well.

As a reminder, on Tuesday Rustavi-2 TV released the conclusive report from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation on Zurab Zhvania and Raul Usupov’s case. As Rustavi-2 informs, the report is dated 2005, 2006, 2007, describing the alleged crime scene, including all items and substances found there.

The document also says that victims’ DNA was discovered on different items, including: a glass, a cigarette butt, gowns and sheet.

Reportedly, a gas heater was improperly installed and the apartment was airtight,”- says the article.

Former Chief Prosecutor Murtaz Zodelava responded to the recently released conclusive report and stressed that Zurab Zhvainia’s family members looked through the document several times. As Zurab Zhvania’s brother maintains, the FBI report says nothing new or useful.

“The investigational and evaluative sections of the document are very different from each other; the evaluative section says that they failed to find any evidence supporting that the late PM’s death was not a fatal accident. You know, this is quite odd since this conclusion contradicts the outcome of their operation.

Once again, I repeat the investigational section of the document states in black and white that CO from an improperly vented heater was not lethal and could not have resulted in Zurab Zhvania’s and Raul Usupov’s death. However, Saakashvili’s government issued a false Georgian translation of the original saying that only CO poisoning could have resulted in the victims’ death since CO from the improperly vented heater immediately reached the lethal level in the room,”- concludes the author of the article.

“Ivanishvili needs an obedient Supreme Court Chairman”

“Theoretically, all four criteria to be met by the Supreme Court Chairman are absolutely acceptable to me. The only thing that actually matters now is to find a suitable candidate who will prove able to meet all necessary requirements and fulfill his entrusted duties.

The president treats this issue with great care; however, the same cannot be said regarding our MPs, whose move to name Zakaria Kutsnashvili as a candidate for this post is absolutely illogical,”- maintains Kakha Kukava, Chairman of the political party - Free Georgia.

“Mr. Kutsnashvili cannot even meet one single criteria named by the President. Specifically, he is not free from political influence or a trusted authority in legal circles. His only advantage is a diploma in law. Clearly though, this is not enough to carry him into office.

Although, the majority lacks a shared vision since they don’t know Bidzina Ivanishvili’s position regarding this issue yet. The Ex-Prime Minister does not want them to adopt Margvelashvili’s candidature. Although, he has not offered one himself yet,”- says the article.

“The four criteria offered by the President irritated Ivanishvili since for this post he might have already chosen his own candidacy that is unable to meet the suggested requirements. However, I don’t exclude that Kutsnashvili also enjoys his favor. President Margvelashvili presented them with his own list of candidates, some of which are very dignified. I think that those having refused to accept this post are actually suitable for it,” - claims the respondent.

To a journalist’s question asking “which of the candidates stands the strongest chance of occupying this post,” the respondent replies:

“I think Ana Dolidze is the most promising candidate with the greatest chance of being elected as Chairperson of the Supreme Court, while Shavgulidze stands little chance of occupying this post since Ivanishvili needs an obedient chairperson meekly following his every instruction.”
