Why does Ukrainian’s justice minister avoid meeting her Georgian counterpart?
Experiment by “Rezonansi” ends with deplorable results, revealing extreme nepotism in state agencies
Why does Ukrainian’s justice minister avoid meeting her Georgian counterpart?
“Minister of Economy and Sustainable development Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Georgia’s Vice-Premier Kakhi Kaladze have reportedly paid a business visit to Ukraine.
It has also become known that Justice Minister Tea Tsulikinai’s Ukrainian colleague has refused to host her. Plus, Irakli Gharibashvili has not yet scheduled his visit to Ukraine. However, as early as November it was reported that the Head of Georgia’s Government would visit Ukraine in the near future,”- reports the Rezonansi newspaper.
Within the framework of their visit, the Georgian authorities will reportedly hold bilateral meetings with their Ukrainian colleagues. The list of Ukrainian high officials which the Georgian authorities will reportedly meet includes current Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavičius. The parties will discuss the prospects of their future cooperation as well as economic relations.
Reportedly, Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani also wanted to visit Ukraine and contacted her Ukrainian counterpart thrice but her colleague made it clear that she is not ready to host her,”- says the article.
"The Government of Georgia expresses full readiness to provide Ukraine with due support and assistance, which will help it to develop and move forward.
A couple of days ago, I invited my Ukrainian colleague to Tbilisi, where we held consultations for her and provided recommendations about different issues such as the Occupation law and different public services.
We are strongly determined to pay a visit to Kiev; though, unfortunately we have not managed this yet; however, I am still deeply convinced that nothing will keep us from cooperating and cultivating our relations,”- announced Tea Tsulukiani.
Although, as parliamentary majority member Zviad Kvachantiradze maintains, they are deliberately blocking the Georgian delegation’s visit to Ukraine. According to him, Georgia’s ministries and state agencies are making great efforts to contact the Ukrainian authorities and the Embassy of Georgia is actively involved in this process,”- says the article.
As political expert Gia Nodia claims, Ukraine has, in fact, distanced itself from Georgia by breaking ties with it.
“I cannot analyze the Ukrainian authorities’ decisions but one thing is clear – Ukraine has suspended relations with Georgia. However, it’s clear that today, when both countries are going through trying times, the Georgian and Ukrainian authorities must broaden their relations instead of breaking them.
As it appears, the Georgian authorities failed to cope with their recent humiliation and the Ukraine-Georgia relations have deteriorated because of the Ukrainian government’s decision to grant high posts to the former Georgian criminal top officials,”- states the political expert.
Experiment by “Rezonansi” ends with deplorable results, revealing extreme nepotism in state agencies
Reports fly that applicants don’t stand a chance of finding a job in state agencies since nepotism is common in these bodies and candidates for vacancies are chosen in advance.
In order to determine the truth, the Rezonansi newspaper conducted an experiment by sending its own job applicant to one of the state agencies.
Unfortunately, we were faced with an extremely deplorable reality; as our experiment showed, an applicant, even a consummate professional, does not even stand the slightest chance of landing a job in these bodies,”- reports the Rezonansi.
Our job applicant successfully passed the interview; however, he was denied access to the second stage. They just deleted him from the list of applicants by stating that he was not suitable for the job; however, after being presented with substantial arguments, the state officials backed down.
On December 18, the Marneuli Municipality announced two vacancies; they were inviting candidates to submit applications for the post of chief specialist for the Department of Information and Public Relations and head of Administrative Service of PR.
After the application deadline expired on December 23, the review Committee sent an email to our applicant informing him that he had successfully passed the interview. The email also said that the National Assessment and Examination Center would soon contact him for the second stage.
Finally, the applicant himself contacted the Center to find out when the second stage was scheduled; as it turned out, the Marneuli Municipality provided the applicant with false contact details,”- says the article.
They offered excuses, insisting that this was a simple mechanical mistake.
“We have proven unable to establish the exact number of people who have failed to find a job due to similar “mechanical mistakes,”- however, you would probably agree that the results of our experiment have given rise to a lot of suspicions as well as giving us a reason to challenge the integrity of these potential employers,”- concludes the author of the article.
