“Georgia cannot be kept waiting at NATO’s door forever”

“All tools are in place to move forward with Georgia’s aspirations”

“No one knows whether Georgia will get MAP now; however, everyone unanimously admits that she cannot be kept waiting on NATO’s doorstep indefinitely.

As some political experts claim, all tools to move Georgia closer to the alliance are in their hands today. According to NATO Secretary General Alexander Vershbow, the western leaders fully support Georgia’s future membership in NATO,”- reports the Rezonansi newspaper.

“NATO is fully committed to Georgia’s future membership. All tools are in place to move forward with Georgia’s aspirations. NATO and Georgia have a robust partnership with a high degree of interoperability of forces thanks to the mission in Afghanistan,”- wrote NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow on Twitter.

Political expert Tornike Sharashenidze thinks that by his statement, Vershbow has just raised a question whether MAP is the only tool that can get Georgia closer to the Alliance,”- says the article.

“By all estimates, such statements are not made aimlessly. The challenges Georgia is facing today are tough; however, our future is in our hands and a lot depends on Russia as well. It is also important to know whether the Western leaders will in any way respond to Russia’s actions.

They might also grant us a transitional package, although I cannot predict whether this package will be MAP or something else.

Obviously, the Western leaders also understand that they cannot keep Georgia on NATO’s doorstep for long, especially considering the present geographical and political background in post-Soviet space. Future developments in Ukraine are also paramount to us, since they will definitely have an impact on Georgia-NATO relations, pushing the NATO member states to determine Georgia’s fate,”- stated Sharashenidze.

“Terrorists will soon target Turkey, Middle East and Caucasus”

The founding fathers of political Islam have waged a large-scale fight against the West and not only does is continue now, but the situation is strongly expected to aggravate even further soon.

New battlefields are likely to emerge in Turkey, Asia and Caucasus, and this will obviously put Georgia’s security at risk.

The founding fathers of political Islam launched this war against the West 13 centuries ago.

It should also be noted that for the last 3 centuries, the West has exploited the Muslim states to the limit since Asia and Africa proved to have the biggest oil reserves, - declares Mamuka Areshidze, expert on Caucasian issues, in his interview with the Rezonansi newspaper.

In order to seize control of these regions, the West has launched a war which has provoked the followers of political Islam. However, different worldviews and cultures are what actually fuel this war.

We can talk till we are blue in the face that Islam preaches tolerance. This will bring us nothing, since the entire world can see that Muslims have declared a war on the West. Muslims have grabbed power and now they are on par with the Western countries. Consequently, their ambitions are growing and now they are using Islam as their political tool.

Terrorist acts are soon expected to be carried out against Turkey, Middle East and Caucasus,”- states Mamuka Areshidze.

After Erdogan took Turkey’s reins, the situation radically changed there. Islam grabbed power and its followers started to meddle in the country’s political life. The Turkish leader wanted his country to become a leading Muslim state, which is why he allowed the followers of Islam to interfere in political affairs.

The issue of Kurds is also acute in Turkey today. This is another reason which pushes the founding fathers of Islam to pile aggression on the country,”- says the respondent.

"The Middle East is also in deep trouble now, since many people side with Islamic Caliphate in the region. On top of that, a new Islamic movement named Khorasan that aims to create a united religious state has also been founded there. Though, most importantly, Muslims have large military bases; all these factors apparently make this region vulnerable to terrorist attacks, - states the expert.

In Caucasus, Muslims are first expected to attack Azerbaijan. According to official data, around 40 thousand Wahhabis live in the country today and this obviously increases threats from Muslims.

It goes without saying that Georgia is also in danger today. As you know, there is an Islamist presence in three regions of our country: Adjara, Pankisi and Kvemo Kartli.

In such circumstances, the Georgian government must redouble efforts to prevent our citizens from leaving their country for Syria via Turkey. In addition, the Georgian authorities must strain to improve the Georgian Muslims’ financial position to avoid religious conflicts in the future.

I cannot share some of our politicians’ allegations saying that Georgian soldiers are not ready to fight against terrorists. I claim the opposite. Although, we can encounter some really tough problems when it comes to an ideological battle,”- concludes the expert.
