Russia’s creeping occupation of Georgia continues

“As experts claim, the Kremlin is soon expected to deploy its military units, aviation and heavy artillery in Georgia’s separatist region of Tskhinvali. They are confident that Russia will gradually expand its occupied zone in our country.

However, as the Georgian authorities state, the entire world has failed to deter Russia’s overwhelming aggression and a small country like Georgia can obviously do nothing against such a tyrant,” reports the Rezonansi newspaper.

“Russia will soon assume full control of Tskhinvali’s armed forces and the special service agencies of the two regions will also be unified. The agreement that is to be finalized between Russia and Georgia’s breakaway region in January will help the Russian leader resolve the issue of Tskinvali.

After he follows through with this plan, he will attempt to abolish the border between Russia and so-called South Ossetia. After assuming full control of its armed forces and security service agencies, the Russian authorities are going to increase pensions and salaries of residents of the Tskhinvali region,” says the article.

To put it straight, Russia longs to swallow the regions of Georgia like it did Crimea. After Tskhinvali’s law enforcement agencies merge with those of Russia, the center of gravity will shift towards the region, resulting in formation of a rather strong military unit in Tskhinvali under Russia’s complete control.

Hence, this creeping occupation will continue and Russia’s heavy artillery will be deployed in the region,” declares military expert Vakhtan Maisaia.

“Russia has pursued the same policy towards Tskhinvali as that of Abkhazia. I don’t even doubt that the creeping occupation will continue and Russia will try to expand its occupied zone in Georgia. The fact that Georgia’s authorities are doing next to nothing to stop this process is very saddening,” Maisaia concluded.

National Movement’s top donors and most affluent members

"The Dream Government has proven to have a voracious appetite – our authorities, who are constantly on the make, are doing everything in their power to increase their income. However, their move to grace themselves with flagrantly boosted bonuses has sparked public outcry and they were forced to label bonuses as employment benefits.

Believe it or not, the National Movement has expressed such a violent protest against the present authorities fording so much money from the country’s budget as if they themselves were as innocent as lambs, “reports the Akhali Taoba gazette.

“Co-founder of NGO “Human, Law, Freedom,” Giorgi Mgvdeladze has touched upon the issue of bonuses and employment benefits issued under the former government and stressed that income of the former authorities substantially exceeded their own salaries.

In 2011, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava’s income ran up to 95,400 GEL, while Minister Giorgi Baramidze’s remuneration reached 121,400 laris. In 2011, Prime Minister Irakli Gilauri received 101,150 laris in bonuses, while his income hit 152,150 GEL.

On top of this, under the former authorities, nepotism was so pervasive in the country that it was the only way of doing business in Georgia,” reads the paper.

“Allegedly, representatives of advertising businesses pouring large amounts of money into the Nationals’ budget have remained their key donors and most lavish financers so far.

It is also noteworthy that as much as 80 percent of our advertising business is under the control of LTD “Outdoor.ge” today.

In addition, different businessmen have also generously financed the party. Among the affluent financers of the National Movement are different ministers and deputy ministers as well as representatives of our business circle,” concludes the author of the article.
