Abkhazian alternative of Russian Agreement on “Alliance and Cooperation” drafted in Sokhumi
"The “parliament” of the occupied region of Abkhazia has reportedly made amendments to the project of “Alliance and Integration” and has sent the amended project to the de-facto leader of the region, Raul Khajimba. From the new version of the project, the 14th article has been removed, amendments have been proposed to the articles on defense and customs spheres and even the name of the agreement has been changed. Now the document is named as the Agreement on “Strategic Partnership.” No one knows whether Russia will accept the amended document. However, as former Head of Abkhazia’s National Security, Levan Kiknadze, claims, it does not matter what kind of changes they will introduce to the agreement, the Kremlin will not drop its intention to annex Abkhazia from Georgia once and for all,” reports the Rezonansi gazette.
“Yesterday, one of the Abkhazian journalists, Anton Kriveniuk, on his Facebook page posted a statement saying that he has looked through the new version of the agreement drafted by the Parliament of Abkhazia. Despite the fact that according to the journalist, he was asked not to expand on the agreement, he has still given out some information regarding it and has stressed that the newly elaborated version of the document is rather interesting. “I was warned against publishing the document, which has already been sent to the President. Now we are all on edge and long to know when the President’s version will be ready… In the amended version of the document, a key element is retained; the document still focuses on Abkhazia’s integration with Russia. Although the article on citizenship has been removed and other easily noticeable changes have also been introduced in Defense and customs spheres in the new version. The name of the project has also been changed. Now it is called the Agreement on “Strategic Partnership” and not the agreement on “Alliance and Integration,” writes the journalist.
“Really substantial amendments have been made to the document; as Doctor of historic sciences, Zurab Papaskiri, maintains, their move to change the title will change nothing substantial in the end; however, their move to change its title can wind down tensions in Abkhazia.”Before we see the new version of the document by Abkhazians, we cannot jump at conclusions. However, as for their decision to rename the document, I don’t think that this decision can draw any real changes. As per Kriveniuk, the name of the document is now “milder”; however, the core message of it is still in place. The journalist also says that the article on citizenship has been removed from the new version of the project. This brought concern to the Abkhaz people as they now fear that thanks to this amendment, the Russian people will prove able to obtain Abkhazian citizenship without any kind of hindrance. The key problem for Russia lies in the fact that an Abkhaz citizen can purchase real estate in Russia, while a citizen of Russia is not entitled to do this. As for Moscow, it desires the Russians and Abkhazians to be equal in everything. Plus, they are talking regarding the amendments in customs and defense spheres; however, I do not really think that Russia will yield or make any compromise in this case,” claims Mr. Papaskiri.
“Papaskiri also remembers the agreement competed between Russia and the Baltic States in 1940. “ Russia sewed up a rather normal agreement on mutual assistance with the Baltic States from the point of view of international law. However, after finalizing the agreement, the Russian leader deployed its troops in the region, held a referendum and grabbed the Baltic States. Thus, by drafting this document, Russia has delivered a rather important message to the Abkhazian people: “You will get money form us in the future only if you meet our requirements and comply with our instructions,” concludes the respondent.
Along with Russians, the Nationals are plotting different corrupt schemes to stir the situation in the bordering regions of Georgia
As a reliable source informed the Alia gazette, one of the core parts of their plan is to manipulate the situation in the disputed regions of Georgia. As the source informs, by Saakashvili’s order, the former officials of Military Intelligence Service and CSD have already entered the regions of Tskhinvali and Sokhumi, where they planned to meet with the representatives of Russia’s Main Intelligence Service Department as well those of the Federal Intelligence and PSB and discuss mutual plans with them. As the source claims, along with Russians, the members of Georgia’s National Movement party are brewing some corrupt schemes to exacerbate the situation in the region. Hypothetically, our archenemies will try their best to even more increase the crime rate in our country – probably, more people will be abducted, robbed and murdered here soon, and only God knows with what kind of other misfortunes our country will be pelted in the short run,” reports the Alia gazette.
“As for the Nationals, they intend to kill two birds with one stone. First of all, if different crimes repeatedly jar the public’s sense of security, they will definitely hold the Government accountable for this. In addition, this will obviously trigger a massive backlash from our people and the Nationals Movement will definitely benefit from this situation,” says the article.
“The Nationals have already thrown the issue of the occupied regions of Georgia into the mix and have repeatedly accused the Government of accelerating the process of their annexation by allowing the Abkhazian leadership to finalize an agreement with Russia. If we believe them, only the acting authorities must be held responsible because of the fact that the issue of Abkhazia has remained unaddressed so far, and if they were at the helm of the country, they would have provided a solution to this issue long ago,” writes the author of the article.
“As the source alleges, Saakashvili sent the former employees of our military intelligence and CSD to Tskhinvali and Sokhumi. If the question of how these people managed to enter the conflict zone unnoticed, when Georgia’s police forces fully control this territory, I will answer you by saying your question is simply ridiculous as the special service officials as well as those serving in the intelligence service know each nook, each path and each road here perfectly well, and they would have definitely found an easy way to enter the region. As the source claims, Saakashvili’s people will pay an astronomical amount of money to put their plan into practice,” reads the paper.
“The Alia gazette contacted expert in security issues, Vakhtang Maisaia, and asked him to make a comment about the issue. “This information seems really credible. The National Movement has already made it clear that they are going to fan the flames of revolution in Georgia and, in this way, demote the Government and retake power. The Nationals have already tried to mobilize the people’s opinion… As for the Nationals satellites having landed in Abkhazia, I will tell you that the rumors go that Megis Kardava is in Turkey; however, the reports have reached my ear that he actually is in Abkhazia and is under the Russian’s full control. He is said to have set to taking steps against Georgia. Reports are rife that the former Head of CSD is in league with Megis Kardava and, obviously, he will also express full readiness to comply with the directions of the Nationals,” declares the expert.
The Georgian Dream Coalition is reaping what it has sown – Petre Mamradze
"Saakashvili and the members of his entourage are bellowing across the country that Russia has gotten down to realizing its intention of annexing Abkhazia from Georgia; as for the President of Georgia and the representatives of the Georgian Dream Coalition, they have gullibly swallowed the evil bait cast by the mendacious and sophisticated members of the National Movement. However, the actual fact is that Abkhazia was depredated by Russia in 2008, and precisely the Nationals have helped them in doing this by committing high treason,” states former Head of the Government’s Chancellery, Petre Mamradze, in his interview with the Rezonansi gazette.
“Saakashvili and his attendants naturally want to pass the buck on the present authorities and hold them accountable for losing the breakaway regions of Georgia. Precisely for this sole purpose, they have voiced concerns over the Government’s lax attitude and reluctance to take really effective steps to deter Russia from gobbling up Abkhazia. Simply imagine if Hitler and his accomplices were with us today, presided over the fraction in Germany’s Bundestag and held Adenauer’s Government accountable for allowing Russia to deploy its troops in Germany and separating the country. Precisely with this kind of absurdity we are faced today. That is the reason why by letting the Nationals lead them around to their point of view and by summoning the Security Council Session to discuss the issue of Abkhazia, they are serving the Nationals’ interests. All these terrible repercussions are the result of these pseudo-politicians irrational policy. As for the session, they are holding it for their own PR,” states Petre Mamradze.
“Saakashvili and his accomplices have dared to take such flagrant steps because of the Government’s refusal to look into their cases and give them their do for working against their own country’s interests. And now the Georgian Dream Coalition is simply reaping what is has sown. The Nationals can really pull some strings and spur several thousand people to rebellion as thanks to this Government, they have retained influence as well as financial resources for doing this,” maintains the respondent.
“Saakashvili is in his element today; he does not miss a chance to hold an effective PR campaign and raise his own rating. However, the fact is that his perseverance does not work for him as the immunity against him in our public is still strong. Saakashvili simply longs to enjoy publicity; he does not want to fall into oblivion. Moreover, he really believes that he can retake power. Although his team members, who have retained their privileges, affluence as well as high posts, are against this, and Saakashvili has lost his levers to control them,” concludes Petre Mamradze.
