Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze: The path Georgia is on is damaging; everyone and anyone has become Georgia’s "boss"—Georgia will only be strong together with Russia

The path Georgia is currently on is damaging; everyone and anyone has become Georgia’s "boss", former Prosecutor General of Georgia, Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze, said on the program "Special Edition."

According to him, "If we want to restore our territorial integrity, this is only possible together with Russia; Georgia needs to mend its relations with Russia."

In Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze’s view, "Russia has very good intentions toward Georgia."

"Surely I have the right to decide which country I like. I love this country [Russia]; I live here. The path Georgia is on is damaging. Let’s look back at the last 35 years—what has the West brought us? And let’s look at the past—Georgia during the Russian era. The state was established, and the people were happy and prosperous. Ever since Georgia became independent—independent from Russia, that is—it has become dependent on everyone else. Everyone and anyone has become Georgia’s 'boss,'" stated Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze.

In Partskhaladze’s view, "a dialogue with Russia must begin."

"Life is good for the 5% who are wealthy and send their children to study abroad—but what are ordinary people supposed to do? Sort things out with Russia, for heaven's sake! There will be jobs, there will be everything; a Georgian will always have a place in Russia—provided, of course, that they behave themselves," stated Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze.

He also spoke about the formation of the "Georgievsky" volunteer unit in Russia, noting that the battalion is in good shape and that "everything is proceeding as it should."

As for the surname "Romanov," he explained that he did not choose it himself; it belonged to an ancestor.

"Regarding the choice of surname—I didn't choose anything.

My ancestor was Knyaz Romanov—Saveli Zakharich Romanov—who was active in Georgia." I have reconstructed everything based on documentation—everything I could find and access.

Some people might claim that the FSB 'gifted' it to me. That is the first time I’ve ever heard of a surname being given as a gift," said Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze.
