One person arrested in Sagarejo for premediated murder of two brothers under aggravating circumstances
Law enforcement officers in Kakheti have solved a case involving the intentional murder of two individuals under aggravating circumstances—one person has been arrested.
Following joint police operations, officers from the Kakheti Police Department and the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested one individual on charges of intentionally murdering two people under aggravating circumstances.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on November 5 of this year, in a village within the Sagarejo Municipality, the accused—acting on the basis of a prior conflict—fired multiple shots from a firearm, wounding two individuals, and subsequently fled the scene.
"Both men died as a result of the injuries sustained.
Following operational measures and investigative actions, law enforcement officers apprehended the perpetrator—now the accused. The police seized the weapon used in the crime as physical evidence.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 109 of the Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment," reads the statement.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the brothers were on their way to a relative's wedding; a fellow villager lay in wait for them and opened fire.
Elman Usafov, the only one of the three brothers to survive, recounted the details of the incident to InterPressNews. He stated that around 5:00 PM, he was walking with his two brothers and a former classmate when a car stopped and shots were fired in their direction. Usafov recalls that he managed to take cover behind the vehicle, while his brothers were shot multiple times and killed on the spot.
"There were four of us—three brothers and a neighbor. Suddenly, the car stopped and shooting began. Many shots were fired. Nothing had happened in the past; we had no conflict. My brothers died on the spot. The police have already questioned me," stated Elman Usufov.
