It is important that we actively support even our political opponents and enemies when they are treated unjustly by the system.” This statement was made by Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the Droa party, who is currently in detention.

In a post shared on social media, Khoshtaria writes that we will continue going around in circles until we learn to accept that legal accountability must be enforced through legal mechanisms, rather than through political motives or inhumane treatment.

“Our struggle is a civilisational struggle. It is not a struggle for power. It is a struggle to build a people-centred system!

“Therefore, as a society, we always have the opportunity to gain the moral high ground. We are in the process of shaping and crystallising our values.

“It is extremely important that we actively support even our political opponents and enemies when they are treated unjustly by the system. It is precisely in cases involving people who are completely unacceptable to us that society must speak out against such methods of treatment and make it clear that fighting this way is unacceptable. This is what distinguishes us from the Russians and Georgian Dream. This is our strength!
