Bera Ivanishvili has filed a lawsuit against TV Pirveli and Formula

A lawsuit filed by Bera Ivanishvili, the son of Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, against TV Pirveli and Formula has been submitted to the Tbilisi City Court. His lawyer, Davit Asatiani, announced this.

According to the lawyer, the information about Bera Ivanishvili broadcast in reports by the two television channels is based on falsehoods. Accordingly, the plaintiff is seeking a formal retraction of the allegations and a court ruling declaring them defamatory.

“Bera Ivanishvili’s lawsuit against defamatory statements and allegations has been filed with the Tbilisi City Court. The defendants are the television companies TV Pirveli LLC and Formula LLC.

The lawsuit concerns the dissemination of information that is based on falsehoods and has no connection whatsoever to reality. The plaintiff is seeking an appropriate retraction of these statements and a ruling declaring them defamatory.

The report as a whole is extensive, but in this case, we are dealing with several allegations that were disseminated without any verification, journalistic diligence or similar due process. They directly involve accusations of criminal activity and alleged hypothetical links to criminal disputes, among other things.

The campaign being waged against him recently has, to some extent, been coordinated and synchronized across various television channels, politicians and public figures. There is absolutely no justification for this, because every person has the right, first and foremost, to the protection of their honour, dignity and reputation.

As you know, the plaintiff is a musician, composer and producer and has no connection to politics. Unfortunately, however, such defamatory statements continue to be made against him. He has the right, as does everyone else, to challenge them through civil legal proceedings. This is the only proper course of action, and those who have knowingly or unknowingly disseminated such defamatory statements should be held accountable under civil law,” Davit Asatiani stated.
