Head of the so-called Border Service of Occupied Abkhazia: Ukrainian drones have violated Abkhazia’s airspace several times

Rustam Latipov, head of the Border Department of the so-called State Security Service of Occupied Abkhazia, has stated that drones operated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine have violated Abkhazia’s airspace on multiple occasions.

“Unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine have violated the airspace of the Republic of Abkhazia several times, specifically in the area where Abkhazia borders the Russian Federation along the Psou River,” Latipov told Russian media.

According to him, “during drone attacks, operations at the Psou border checkpoint are temporarily suspended, and border services take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of citizens crossing the border.”

Latipov also stated that border control agencies and law enforcement authorities are doing everything possible to ensure the continued operation of critical infrastructure facilities. He emphasized that this includes both the railway line and the recently reopened airport in Sokhumi, “as passenger traffic, including from Russia, is increasing.”
