Dito Chubinidze: "Gharibashvili, you say?! I’ve only seen him once in my life; Gharibashvili is a politician; he used the situation to his own advantage, while I was left face-to-face, surrounded by these wolves"

"Gharibashvili, you say?! I’ve only seen him once in my life—who even knows Gharibashvili? Gharibashvili is a politician; he used the situation to his own advantage, while I was left face-to-face, surrounded by these wolves," stated Dito Chubinidze, a journalist for Asaval-Dasavali, who was released today by the Court of Appeals on a 4,000 GEL bail.

He also noted that the scheduling of a hearing at the Court of Appeals today came as a surprise to him, given that a court session had already been set for December 15th at the City Court.

"Gharibashvili, you say?! I’ve only seen Gharibashvili once in my life—who even knows him? Gharibashvili is a politician, and he used the situation to his own advantage. It’s not that I’m badmouthing him or confronting him; he’s a politician who calculated the situation well—he leveraged it effectively to stir up the issue. And there I was, left face-to-face, surrounded by these wolves...

Suddenly, a colleague looked over and said, 'Dito Chubinidze, get ready for court.' It was like a bolt from the blue... The hearing was scheduled for December 15th, and then this happened," Dito Chubinidze remarked to TV Pirveli.

For context, the Prosecutor General's Office arrested Domenti (Dito) Chubinidze, a journalist for Asaval-Dasavali, on charges of treason—specifically, sabotage.

The agency stated that "since February 2026, Dito Chubinidze has been systematically disseminating false information and disinformation through various media outlets and social platforms." Dito Chubinidze had been placed in pre-trial detention; however, the Court of Appeals today replaced this measure with bail. He was released upon posting bail of 4,000 GEL.
