Nika Gvaramia: Today we are burying Zviad Gamsakhurdia's legacy – We are heading back to where Zviad Gamsakhurdia dragged us out from

"Today we are burying Zviad Gamsakhurdia's legacy – we are heading back to where Zviad Gamsakhurdia dragged us out from," stated Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change," in the Constitutional Court during the review of the constitutional lawsuit concerning the ban on the opposition.
According to Nika Gvaramia, "we are facing a distorted reality," because through this lawsuit, Badri Japaridze—a politician who signed the Act of Independence—is to be banned, while the person signing the lawsuit demanding the ban is someone who overthrew Zviad Gamsakhurdia's lawful government.
"[In the future] they will certainly say that today, 36 years later, we are talking about how the process is developing in a completely inverted manner, completely reversed, and we are heading back to where Zviad Gamsakhurdia dragged us out from—except this time without Zviad Gamsakhurdia, which increases the chances of ending up right back where we emerged from thanks to Zviad.
I am not pessimistic; I truly believe in this country's victory and European integration. Nevertheless, I cannot fail to emphasize the catastrophe before which Georgia has been placed by a few people, including individuals present in this courtroom.
Today, by the decision demanded by 'Georgian Dream,' Badri Japaridze will be abolished as a politician. This is the man who signed the Declaration of Independence. On the other hand, those who overthrew the lawful government, and with arms at that, are signing this lawsuit. This is the distorted reality we face," Nika Gvaramia stated.
