Police in Kakheti have arrested a man wanted for the murder of a young man at his brother’s wedding

Officers from the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a previously convicted man on charges of intentional murder.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs released the information.

“According to the investigation, on October 27 of this year, during a verbal altercation near a restaurant in the village of Lisi, the accused stabbed a young man in the chest with a bladed weapon and fled the scene.

The injured man died shortly after being taken to a medical facility.

As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, law enforcement officers arrested the accused in the Signagi district of Kakheti shortly after the crime.

Police seized the weapon used in the crime as evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years,” the statement said.
