Revaz Sokhadze on the protest by students and parents of Public School No. 10: Your anger and concern are completely legitimate – I take responsibility that studies in this school will begin next September

"I take responsibility that studies in this school will begin next September. If they do not begin, I will no longer be where I am," Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze addressed the students and parents of Tbilisi Public School No. 10, who held a protest on Dadiani Street demanding the construction of the school and blocked the roadway.

Sokhadze visited the protesters on-site and spoke with them personally regarding the issue. As the minister stated, he fully understands the anger of the citizens at the rally, as being faced with this problem for so many years is not normal.

"We are well aware of the problem specifically concerning this school. Your indignation, anger, and the concern you have are completely legitimate. I am telling you this absolutely sincerely because it is not normal when this problem persists for years, and for years children, parents, and teachers have had to remain in this situation.

You know that there were certain delays in the construction process of this school. These problems have been overcome, and the contractor has already submitted [an application] for a renewed permit. As I know, some of the parents have already had a meeting at the Municipal Development Fund, and we can hold this meeting again.

In the coming days, the contractor will resume construction. Our task and instruction—and I take responsibility for this—is that studies in this school will begin in September of next year. This is the reality we have. Studies will begin in the new school in September of next year. If they do not begin, I will no longer be where I am," Revaz Sokhadze noted.

As a reminder, students of Tbilisi Public School No. 10 and their parents held a protest rally. They are demanding the completion of the school building's construction and the timely return of the children to the school.
