Badri Japaridze: We heard truly unique allegations regarding "Lelo – Strong Georgia" – If anyone can be called a branch of the "National Movement," it is "Georgian Dream"

"We heard truly unique allegations regarding 'Lelo – Strong Georgia' – apparently, signing the charter proposed by Salome Zourabichvili and agreeing to cooperate with Giorgi Gakharia's party during the local elections constitutes a violation of the Constitution," stated Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia – Lelo," after the conclusion of today's Constitutional Court session.

According to Japaridze, if anyone can be called a branch of the "National Movement," it is "Georgian Dream."

"Today we heard the opening statements of the representatives of 'Georgian Dream.' We were very interested to hear what they would say regarding 'Lelo – Strong Georgia.' We heard truly unique allegations – apparently, signing the charter proposed by Salome Zourabichvili and agreeing to cooperate with Giorgi Gakharia's party during the local elections is a violation of the Constitution. We also heard [allegations] that we did not provide an assessment of the events of July 20, 2019, when the party had not even been created.

Furthermore, in their typical propaganda style, the representative of 'Georgian Dream' referred to 'Lelo' as a branch of the 'National Movement.' Meanwhile, not a single member of the governing bodies nor any leader of 'Lelo – Strong Georgia' held a political office between 2003 and 2012, when the 'United National Movement' governed the country. In contrast, within 'Georgian Dream' itself, there are numerous individuals who held political and key state posts back then and continue to hold important positions today under 'Georgian Dream' rule. If anyone can be called a branch of the 'National Movement,' it is 'Georgian Dream,'" Badri Japaridze stated.
