Penitentiary Service: Giorgi Peikrishvili is alone in his cell and under 24-hour video surveillance; Vato Kipiani has not entered his cell - If the family wishes, a lawyer may visit prison to see him

The Special Penitentiary Service has denied claims made by Nino Abramishvili—the mother of the Peikrishvili brothers—that a so-called "criminal authority" named Vato Kipiani had entered the cell of her son, Giorgi Peikrishvili. The Penitentiary Service’s press office informed InterPressNews that no such incident took place.

"Giorgi Peikrishvili is under 24-hour video surveillance in his cell. Vato Kipiani has not entered his cell; he is alone. If the family wishes, a lawyer can visit the prison to see him," the press office stated.

According to the mother of the Feikrishvili brothers—who are known to have ties to criminal circles—Vato Kipiani, a so-called "criminal authority," entered the prison cell of her other son, Giorgi Peikrishvili.

It should be noted that the Investigative Division of the General Inspection of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has launched an investigation into the infliction of bodily harm upon prisoner Davit Peikrishvili, pursuant to Article 126, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Most recently, Davit Peikrishvili was transferred from prison to the Vivamedi Clinic with injuries to his upper limbs. Prior to this, he had been admitted to the clinic on October 19 at 21:00 with multiple injuries, after which he was discharged to the Prison Medical Facility No. 18 for observation. Earlier, the lawyer for the detainee, Peikrishvili, stated that the accused had sustained fractures to four ribs, his skull, and the bones of his face. According to the lawyer, these physical injuries were inflicted upon Peikrishvili by individuals including Vato Kipiani and Avtandil Bilanishvili, also known as "Katsro."

For context, brothers Davit and Giorgi Peikrishvili—who are linked to criminal circles—were arrested in Tbilisi on September 22 of this year. The arrests are connected to charges of violence and extortion. As for Vato Kipiani, Shota Kipiani, and Avtandil Bilanishvili (known as "Katsro"), they were arrested on October 15, 2024. They are accused of committing acts of violence as part of a group.
