Grigol Gegelia: The regime is telling half the nation that as a nation we have been unconstitutional, while Vasil Roinishvili is constitutional - granting the lawsuit will create a formal basis for the policy of not irritating Russia to be legalized

One thing I want every Georgian to know is that today five political parties are not being banned — today the right to think freely is being banned in the country, which is being forbidden to each of you regardless of which political party you support, because the fundamental right that is being banned today is the right of every citizen and is a matter of changing taste: today you may be a voter of “Georgian Dream,” but you are being forbidden electoral will and the right, you are being forbidden the right of free, conscientious choice, and this is an attack on the most fundamental essence of democracy, — Secretary for Foreign Affairs of “Lelo – Strong Georgia” Grigol Gegelia stated.

According to him, today “Lelo” will already have its turn to enter the substantive consideration and the team will present the corresponding argument.

“Today an attack is underway from the side of the regime on every Georgian, on the entire Georgian nation, and on all those parties that received up to a million votes in their own falsified elections; accordingly, this regime is telling half the nation that we as a nation have been unconstitutional, while Vasil Roinishvili, who in Misha’s time was engaged in fabricating cases, has turned out, it seems, to be constitutional, truthful and a patriot.

This regime is keeping us in such wickedness and perversity, when a prosecutor from the time of Misha Saakashvili, who among other things worked on covering up the murder case of Sergeant Roin Shavadze, today comes out and bans the ‘National Movement,’ and what is even worse, wants to ban such political parties that did not exist for many subsequent years, for example ‘Lelo – Strong Georgia,’” Grigol Gegelia noted.

According to Gegelia, granting the lawsuit will create a formal legal and political basis for the policy of not irritating Russia to actually be constitutionally legalized and constitutionally justified.

“In this case the Georgian state is saying that everything that Russia may potentially regard as irritating will be recognized as unconstitutional; this means that the Georgian state is renouncing the exercise of its own sovereign rights and is engaging in self-restriction. It is ceding part of its own sovereign rights and, first of all, the right to defend itself, the right to pursue a national security policy acceptable to it, to Russia, and all of this is being legalized in this building by the hand of the ‘Kotsuri’ regime,” Grigol Gegelia noted.

In addition, Grigol Gegelia also responded to the statement of the Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in which he calls on the Georgian authorities to withdraw the lawsuit.

According to him, “today the entire civilized world is saying together that the regime of ‘Georgian Dream’ is destroying democracy, every seed of freedom and the Georgian state.”

“There does not exist a single different opinion in the entire international community that would look at the state of affairs differently.

Even those sides that in the recent past were regarded as partners of ‘Georgian Dream’ on the international arena are openly saying that this is an attempt to destroy every last foundation of democracy. The ban of political parties is yet another level of autocracy and this is the establishment of dictatorship,” Grigol Gegelia noted.
