Salome Samadashvili: Judges must realize that they are acting as a weapon in Russia’s hybrid attack against the country—there will inevitably be a sharp international response

The judges of the Constitutional Court must realize that, should they decide to uphold this absurd lawsuit, they would effectively become a weapon in Russia’s hybrid attack against our country," Salome Samadashvili, one of the leaders of the "Strong Georgia – Lelo" coalition, said during a live broadcast from Batumi on PalitraNews’ program "360 Degrees".
According to Samadashvili, any attempt to destroy the opposition will inevitably trigger a sharp response from international partners.
She further remarked that if there is ever a case that would guarantee a victory upon being referred to the Strasbourg court, this is precisely such a case.
"I am not an expert on the intricacies of proceedings at the Strasbourg court, nor am I the best authority to predict how that court might respond; however, having listened to the Constitutional Court hearing for hours today, it became clear—even to me—that if there is a case which, once referred to Strasbourg, would certainly result in a victory, that is inevitably this case.
In terms of the international response, there will certainly be a sharp reaction to any attempt to destroy the opposition in our country, because 'Georgian Dream' knows that this is a 'red line'—they have been told this many times. It is clear that this process will inevitably continue within the international legal sphere, as it constitutes a violation not only of the Constitution but also of obligations undertaken under the European Convention. The lawsuit concocted by Kobakhidze represents a violation of all our internationally assumed obligations," she stated.
