"I warned you that Ivanishvili is a man who operates without any rules or restraints—but many thought that was an exaggeration. Well, take a look at what such lawlessness actually looks like. By doing this, he is effectively telling everyone: 'First, I’ll throw you in prison, and then, once you’re there, I’ll make sure you are at your most vulnerable.' And this is just the beginning,"- Mikheil Saakashvili, the third President of Georgia, writes in a statement posted on social media in response to media reports that Davit Peikrishvili—an accused individual associated with the criminal underworld—was physically attacked in Gldani Prison. The alleged assailants were other inmates, including Vato Kipiani, a figure known as a 'criminal authority,' along with four others.

According to Saakashvili, Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chairman of Georgian Dream, was displeased by letters sent from prison by the Peikrishvili brothers; consequently, he instructed his son Bera Ivanishvili’s inner circle of friends to "take care of the matter."

"It is crystal clear to me what happened. Ivanishvili did not like the letters the Peikrishvili brothers sent from prison. He told Bera’s inner circle—Katsro and Kipiani—to 'handle this matter.' They replied, 'Just let us get to the Peikrishvilis, and we’ll take care of the rest.'

A cheap, staged fight was set up at a café in Vake Park—it’s quite obvious from the footage that it was orchestrated. Afterward, these individuals were arrested and placed in prison, where they brutally assaulted the Peikrishvili brothers—who had incurred Ivanishvili’s wrath. Conveniently, there was no surveillance camera in their cell, even though such cameras are installed in every single cell throughout the entire prison system—except for this one.

People, do you even realize the situation we’ve ended up in?

I warned you that Ivanishvili is a man who operates completely outside the law—but most of you thought I was exaggerating. Well, take a look at what that kind of lawlessness actually looks like. He is sending a message to everyone: 'First, I’ll throw you in prison, and then, once you’re there, I’ll make sure you are at your most vulnerable.' And this is only the beginning—unless we ourselves put an end to it," writes Mikheil Saakashvili.
