Giorgi Kakhiani: The opposition is afraid of its own ratings

“People often say of a cowardly person that they are afraid of their own shadow. The opposition’s situation is somewhat similar — they are afraid of their own ratings,” Parliament Deputy Speaker Giorgi Kakhiani said, commenting on reports about an IRI poll.

According to him, the opposition’s ratings have almost fallen to zero as a result of what he described as their “harmful activities.”

“People often say of a cowardly person that they are afraid of their own shadow. The opposition’s situation is somewhat similar — they are afraid of their own ratings and are hiding all of this from the public. It is a fact that the poll was conducted recently, and it reflects the situation that currently exists in the political arena.

“The poll shows that despite Georgian Dream having been in power for 14 years, one would naturally expect public trust in the government to decline. But the opposite is happening: support for Georgian Dream continues to increase. There is a simple explanation for this: during this extremely difficult period, society supports the government’s policies. We see that the opposition’s ratings have almost fallen to zero, which is also a result of what they have been doing,” Kakhiani said.
