De facto president of occupied Abkhazia: There are still forces in Georgia that want to return Abkhazia by force - this requires constant readiness to defend the homeland; we are strengthening our armed forces and military cooperation with Russia

“There are still forces in Georgia that want to return Abkhazia by force,” Badra Gunba, the de facto president of occupied Abkhazia, said.

“Today, there is peaceful life in Abkhazia, but we must understand that the situation around us remains difficult. We see that there are still forces in Georgia that have not abandoned the idea of returning Abkhazia by force. This requires us to remain constantly ready to defend our homeland. We are strengthening the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia and developing military-technical cooperation with the Russian Federation,” Badra Gunba said.

According to him, “33 years have passed since victory day, and during this time a new generation has grown up that was born in a free Abkhazia.”

“We do not want war. We want peace, but we must be ready to defend our land, freedom, and independence. We must do everything possible to preserve the peace that was achieved at such a high cost, ensure that Abkhazia develops and becomes stronger, and allow future generations to live freely in their homeland,” Gunba said.
