Natia Janashia, founder of the British International School of Tbilisi, addresses the school staff with an open letter

Dear Colleagues, I am compelled to reach out to you through the media, as per the instructions of Irakli Gilauri and Giorgi Ketiladze, email addresses registered under school domains - including yours - have been restricted from receiving emails sent from my accounts. It is clear that Mr. Gilauri and his associates fear you may learn the truth and have full access to information regarding their unlawful actions.
On 31st March 2025, I informed you that a criminal investigation had been launched into possible offenses committed against me and David Tsetskhladze under the direction of Irakli Gilauri, Giorgi Ketiladze, and other representatives of the JSC “Georgia Capital”. We now wish to inform you that, due to further potentially criminal actions targeting my family, an additional criminal case has been opened. Such investigations are initiated when the relevant authorities find grounds to suspect a criminal offense.
Many of you have asked what Georgia Capital’s and Georgia Education Group’s unlawful actions involve, as you do not wish to become unwitting instruments in the hands of Georgia Capital and the self-appointed school management.
These actions have included - and continue to include - the following:
- In 2019, JSC Georgia Capital acquired 70% of my shareholding in the school through fraudulent misrepresentation;
- They caused financial harm to the school by improving a plot of land owned by them, without fulfilling their contractual obligations to the school;
- They are deliberately and unlawfully attempting to deprive us - the founders and original developers - of internationally recognised schools we have built over a period of 19 years;
- Using a falsified meeting record, I was illegally removed from directorship and replaced by an unqualified individual;
- Security staff, legal representatives, and other employees were forcibly removed from the school, with members of the security team subjected to intimidation;
- Employees who peacefully protested my illegal dismissal and the school’s hostile takeover have been unlawfully terminated;
- Wrongfully dismissed or resigned staff have been denied their earned wages;
- Safety standards mandated by COBIS and Georgian law have been breached;
- The property rights of both myself and David Tsetskhladze have been violated;
- Our children are being subjected to discrimination at the school in what appears to be an act of retaliation, treated unequally compared to other students.
Legal proceedings are ongoing in relation to each of these incidents. Should you be contacted by relevant institutions (including the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), the Public Defender’s Office, etc.), I urge you to respond truthfully, fairly, and within the bounds of your professional responsibilities.
Please, do not allow yourselves to become instruments of Irakli Gilauri, Giorgi Ketiladze, or other representatives of Georgia Capital; do not, knowingly or unknowingly, contribute to the unlawful actions being taken against us, our children, or our property.
Respectfully,
Natia Janashia
