The government's initiative, which envisions the reorganization of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure into two separate entities, has been submitted to the Parliament.
According to the planned structural changes within the executive branch, a Ministry of Regional Development and a Ministry of Infrastructure will be established. The current ministry’s functions and responsibilities will be divided: regional development functions will be transferred to the Ministry of Regional Development, while infrastructure-related functions will go to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
It has been announced that Irakli Karseladze, the current Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, will lead the new Ministry of Infrastructure. As for the Ministry of Regional Development, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze initially nominated Grigol Liluashvili, the head of the State Security Service, as its minister. However, the decision was changed two days later, and Kakhaber Guledani, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, was appointed to the post instead.
