Zurab Tsetskhladze: The court is dead, they are afraid of releasing these young people from the prison contingent - this court will always keep them in prison

In addition to the fact that the court is dead, they are afraid of releasing these young people from the prison contingent - this court will always keep them in prison, because these young people have developed strength, which is also radiating from prison cells, - Zurab Tsetskhladze, the father of Zviad Tsetskhladze, who was arrested during the protests, told InterPressNews at the rally ongoing on Rustaveli Avenue.

According to him, street protests will bring the processes to their logical conclusion.

"The demands may become even tougher. If we do not achieve real elections, it is not excluded that the demands will change. Conditionally, the demands may go to the resignation of the de facto, self-proclaimed government. The forms of shouts and chants should change. Conditionally: if today we say, “No justice, everywhere police”, this can be replaced with a demand - “Go away”. Street protests have always had great importance. The fate of Georgia has always been decided on Rustaveli and will be decided on Rustaveli.

As for judicial issues, we have seen very well that the court is an absolute sham. Nothing is decided in court and the trust in the court is zero. We saw the trial of Zviad and seven people associated with him. The judge seemed to be listening, following logical processes. The process took place in a calm atmosphere, which created expectations that something might change, but I told everyone not to think for a minute that the judge would make a different decision. The judicial institution today is aimed at fulfilling the tasks. The court has no other function. Therefore, it made this decision and left them in custody. This court will always leave them in prison, because these young people have developed public trust and power, and they radiate this power and their energy from prison cells. The de facto government has already become afraid of this, and for this reason alone they will not release them”, he said.

“We are standing on the streets and will stand until we achieve new elections, the release of political prisoners and a legitimate, lawful government in this country,” Zurab Tsetskhladze added.
