We see that the three former Soviet republics, which are now members of the European Union, I mean the Baltic states, are directly involved in trying to change the legitimate government of Georgia, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists about this.
According to Papuashvili, the new American administration has changed its attitude towards interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, all funding has been stopped.
As Papuashvili says, President Trump’s decree directly states that this money would be used to destabilize other countries.
“The funds allocated for destabilization have been cut off. What was previously done by USAID, NED, or other such organizations, which were more experienced in issues of regime change covertly, indirectly. Today we see that the governments of several countries are directly involved in this process, and in particular the former Soviet republics, the three former Soviet republics that are now members of the European Union, I mean the Baltic countries, which are directly involved in changing the legitimate government of Georgia. We see that they have given a whole platform to the Georgian opposition and also to non-governmental organizations, which turned out to be Estonian NGOs, Transparency International Georgia and some others. Estonian NGOs are speaking to us today on behalf of the Georgian people. So, this whole scenario, based on the inexperience of the governments of these three Baltic countries, has become directly obvious, the goal is to change the legitimate government,” Papuashvili said.
According to him, in recent days the society has seen the sanctions imposed.
“You know that on the one hand, they are in a mode of semi-recognition, if not non-recognition, of the will of the Georgian people, and we have also seen sanctions in recent days. The sanctions were imposed at a time when the opposition and non-governmental organizations, Estonians, as it turned out, were in those capitals. The list is a fact, the frivolous Estonian Foreign Minister has no idea about the names and surnames of Georgian police officers. This list was compiled by the Estonian NGO Transparency International on the instructions of their government. The goal is clear, what these three countries, their governments have towards Georgia, is to change the legal government. It seems that the desire is to bring to Georgia a government that will follow their whims. I also wrote about this, that the goal is different - these three governments have only one interest in Georgia, this interest is that we be a weapon and an instrument against Russia. These three post-Soviet countries have their own fears regarding Russia, and instead of standing up boldly, facing these fears, they are trying to use other countries, other peoples, to divert Russia's attention to other issues," Papuashvili said.
