Geostat: In January 2025, real GDP grew by 11.1% compared to the same period of the previous year

According to preliminary estimates from Geostat (National Statistics Office of Georgia), in January 2025, real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth amounted to 11.1% compared to the same period in the previous year.

As reported, key sectors contributing to this growth included: Professional, scientific, and technical activities, transport and storage, construction, information and communication, manufacturing industry, trade. However, a decline was observed in the mining industry.

For reference, Geostat produces monthly preliminary estimates of economic growth based on sectoral statistics, including VAT-paying enterprises' turnover, fiscal data, and monetary indicators. These estimates follow internationally accepted practices for obtaining short-term preliminary operational data.

In sectors where monthly data is unavailable (such as agriculture and the informal economy), assessments are based on previous period data. Additionally, monthly adjustments may be made to VAT-paying enterprises' turnover, which can lead to revisions of preliminary real GDP growth estimates.
