Starting January 1, 2025, Distribution Vehicles Will Also Face Traffic Restrictions During Peak Hours in Tbilisi

In Tbilisi, traffic restrictions from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM will apply to distribution vehicles, alongside other large vehicles, within city limits.
As Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced during a municipal government meeting, distributors were previously granted a grace period, but starting January 1 of next year, the restrictions will extend to this category of vehicles as well.
"One and a half years ago, we began implementing another new reform aimed at easing traffic congestion in the capital during peak hours caused by large vehicles. Movement restrictions were imposed on vehicles in the N2 and N3 categories from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. These restrictions applied to vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons.
Initially, we granted certain exceptions. We worked closely with the business sector when introducing the regulation and allowed distribution vehicles an eight-month grace period to adapt to the changes. Afterward, we extended this grace period by an additional four months. Starting January 1, however, this restriction will apply to them as well," stated Kaladze.
He added that the regulation specifically targets N2 and N3 category vehicles used for distribution and does not apply to M2 category vehicles.
"We emphasize once again that the restriction applies only during the hours of 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, which are the peak traffic times in the city. There are no restrictions during the rest of the day, and no additional restrictions are planned," the mayor clarified.
