Reuters: Thousands of Georgians gathered at the Freedom Square to meet the national football team - Georgian football players won praise from all over Europe for exciting games

Thousands of excited Georgian fans gathered in the central square of the country's capital, Tbilisi, to welcome the national football team returning from Euro 2024 after an exciting debut, - this is how Reuters responds to the event held at Freedom Square - "Georgia's thanks to the football team".
The publication notes that before arriving at the Freedom Square, the football players were traveling in an open bus in Tbilisi and were met with applause and cheers.
"President Salome Zurabishvili, who attended all four matches of the country in Germany, presented one of the highest civilian awards of Georgia, the Order of Honor, to each player. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's speech, which promised the government's continued support to the national team, was followed by shouts of dissatisfaction from some of the attendees, as a reminder of Georgia's bitter domestic policy, which was temporarily overshadowed by the championship," Reuters wrote.
The article noted that "Georgian players have won praise across Europe for a string of thrilling performances, including a shock 2-0 win over Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal."
