According to the Personal Data Protection Service, the Service received about 70 reports regarding the calls received from unknown numbers, of which about 10 reports containing signs of an alleged crime were sent to the law enforcement body for response.
According to the press service, the Service implements the measures stipulated by the law in connection with the facts referred to in the statements and notifications.
In addition, the statement released by the Personal Data Protection Service concerns "the record regarding the processing of special categories of data in the draft law on the transparency of foreign influence and notes that the above is permissible if it is directly and specifically regulated by the law and the processing is a necessary and proportionate measure in a democratic society.
The Personal Data Protection Service believes that it is appropriate to write in detail the need, necessity and volume of personal data processing in future subordinate legal acts, as well as the specific purpose that determines the legitimacy of data processing in this way.
"As, according to the draft law, the legal basis for personal data processing is defined at the level of the legislative act, it is important that there be a specific, clear and legal purpose necessary for the processing.
According to the first paragraph of Article 10 of the Draft Law of Georgia "On Transparency of Foreign Influence", within 60 days after the entry into force of the same paragraph, the relevant bodies/officials must adopt/issue the by-laws necessary to implement this law and provide appropriate by-laws.
Taking into account the mentioned reservation, it is recommended that in future subordinate legal normative acts, the need, necessity and volume of personal data processing, as well as the specific purpose that determines the legitimacy of data processing be written in detail.
It is appropriate to regulate the data processing processes outside the draft law through specific legal acts developed by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia in order to ensure the implementation of activities based on the goals of the draft law.
In addition to the above, since according to the draft law, the person authorized by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia is the person responsible for data processing, all the obligations of the person responsible for data processing according to the Law of Georgia "On Personal Data Protection" apply to him”, reads the statement.
