Sergey Lavrov: closest neighbors - Russia, Iran and Turkey is promising because it does not depend on the global political situation

The mechanism of cooperation between Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and their three closest neighbors - Russia, Iran and Turkey is promising because it does not depend on the global political situation, - said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov.

"We proposed to develop more actively the mechanism of cooperation between the three countries of the South Caucasus - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and their three closest neighbors - Russia, Turkey and Iran. Several meetings were held in which representatives of Armenia participated," Lavrov said.

According to him, the "3+3 format" is free from the geopolitical game of maintaining hegemony.

"It seems to me that over time this particular format will be promising, because it does not depend on any global geopolitical conjuncture and is free from the geopolitical game of maintaining hegemony, which Washington develops together with its colleagues in Brussels," Lavrov noted.
