Tbilisi City Hall issues a statement

Tbilisi City Hall issues a statement. As stated in the statement, they are responding to the information spread by one of the media outlets, as if the Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency announced a tender for providing food for the children of public kindergartens on December 30 of last year, due to which the tender failed and the agency is forced to purchase food in a simplified manner.

"As it concerns children, their safety and the proper conduct of the preschool education process, we declare with full responsibility that the mentioned information is a complete lie and aims to mislead the public, especially parents.

Due to the fact that the Law of Georgia "On State Procurement" was applied to gardens for the first time since 2024, each garden was registered as a purchasing organization and a joint tender was announced. More specifically, market research related to the supply of food for gardens was conducted in the period of November 17-28 last year, and both tenders (left bank and right bank of Mtkvari) were announced on November 30 of the same year.During the tender procedures, both tenders were challenged by representatives of competing companies, which are related to certain procedural issues. As the educational process in kindergartens starts on January 15th, the supply of food products until February 29th is urgently needed.

We would like to emphasize that none of the tenders failed. Tender procedures will continue as usual after the decision is made. Before making an emergency purchase, market research is conducted and contracts are awarded to the company with the lowest bid.

At this stage, there are 189 public nurseries in Tbilisi, which serve up to 60,000 children, and the provision of food for children, including in the conditions of a pandemic, is an important issue for the municipality.

Once again, we call on the media representatives to check the issues related to the municipality, especially if they concern children, with the press office of the Tbilisi City Hall," the statement reads.
