Orthodox world celebrates Christmas today

The Orthodox world celebrates the glorious feast of Christmas on January 7. In connection with this, a solemn service was held in the Orthodox temples.
According to the Holy Gospel, the Lord Jesus Christ, as a sign of great humility, was born in a cave in Bethlehem, where shepherds hid their cattle during bad weather. The angels of the Lord rejoiced the shepherds there. They were the first to see the child Savior.
On Christmas Eve, believers light a candle at the window, symbolically inviting the Holy Mother of God and Righteous Joseph to them.
