Deputy Minister of Health: From 2024, we will fully finance medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases

From 2024, all those people for whom the state used to finance medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases within certain limits will be fully financed for the whole year. I think this is one of the victories of our policy, - said Deputy Minister of Health, Ilia Ghudushauri.
According to his explanation, the opportunity to expand the program became possible as a result of the reforms that the Ministry of Health has been actively implementing for the last 2 years in order to increase access to medicines. Among them is the opening of the Turkish market and the reference prices for medicines.
"With the reference policy and the opening of the Turkish market, the citizens of Georgia saved 300-400 million GEL in total. If we talk in annual terms, the prices of certain medicines have decreased by 80%. However, as we assumed, on average, it has been reduced by 40%, which I think is quite a big success," said Ilia Ghudushauri, whose statement was published by the Ministry of Health.
