Irakli Antadze: 4 of our fellow citizens are in illegal detention - in the near future we will be able to inform their families of some positive news

As of today, 4 of our fellow citizens are in illegal detention - I will not talk about the details, but in the near future we will be able to inform their families of some positive news regarding their fate, Deputy Head of the Analytical Department of the State Security Service, Irakli Antadze, told journalists after the meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism in Ergneti.

According to Antadze, the so-called borderization was one of the main issues of discussion at the meeting.

"The so-called borderization is one of the main items on our agenda. We discussed each incident. Once again, we expressed protest, since this process violates the fundamental rights of the local population and their lives and health are at daily risk. The position of the opponents is known to the public and there is no fundamental progress regarding this issue. Despite this, the central government continues to make active efforts to stop this process, which makes the daily life of the population living along the occupation line extremely difficult, and replace it with humanitarian approaches, which will essentially make their lives easier," Antadze said.

As Irakli Antadze noted, the position of the central government of Georgia is that "free movement is not a privilege that only individuals should enjoy, but an inalienable human right."

As for the positions of the other party participating in the format, Antadze noted that the main object of their dissatisfaction was the police checkpoint located near Chorchana, however, as he said, the said police checkpoint is "one of the factors contributing to stability".

"The main object of their displeasure is still the standard police checkpoint located near Chorchana, although no solid argument was provided as to how this checkpoint could be dangerous for the population. Their position is unchanged, and also the position of the central government on the mentioned issue is unchanged, since the said checkpoint is located in the territory controlled by the central government," Antidze said.
