Representatives of the Russian occupation forces have illegally detained a Georgian citizen near the occupied village of Zemo Artsevi. The information about this is spread by the State Security Service.

According to SSG, as soon as they received information about the illegal detention, the State Security Service activated a "hot line" operating through the EU Monitoring Mission. Information about the incident was immediately provided to international partners and the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions.

"We would also like to note that the disseminated information that an illegally detained person is an active serviceman is not true.

The central Government of Georgia has activated all the mechanisms at its disposal to release the illegally detained persons as soon as possible.

The harmful practice of illegal detention restricts the fundamental right to free movement, significantly worsens the security environment on the ground and threatens the situation in the region," the SUS said in a statement.
