Russian Defense Ministry: Russia's initiatives are being ignored by NATO

According to Russian Ministry of Defense, NATO ignoring Russia's initiatives for de-escalation creates preconditions for incidents and conflicts, undermines the foundations of security.
"It was noted that the Russian side has repeatedly proposed the North Atlantic Alliance measures to de-escalate the situation. The Alliance ignored Russia's initiatives. This creates preconditions for incidents and conflicts, undermines the foundations of security," the ministry said in a statement.
At the same time, according to Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel-General Alexander Fomin, relations between Russia and NATO are at a critical level amid global instability.
"Russia-NATO relations are at a critically low level. This is happening against the background of terrorist and global threats," Fomin said after the NATO-Russia Council meeting.
According to Fomin, the Russian side hopes that there will be a constructive discussion of security proposals in order to continue preparing agreements in relation to guarantees.
