Gennady Bestaev, released from the illegal detention of the de facto regime in occupied Tskhinvali, is in a coma.

The patient was transferred from Tskhinvali to the Georgian-Dutch hospital in Tbilisi late last night.

According to the doctor-resuscitator of the clinic, it is impossible to make a prognosis about his health at this stage.

"The patient is in a coma. He has suffered hemorrhagic stroke. It is impossible to make a prognosis at the moment. It is in an extremely serious condition”, said Giorgi Gvaramadze, a resuscitator on duty.

Gennady Bestaev, an illegal prisoner of the occupying regime, was transferred from Tskhinvali to Tbilisi late last night with the help of the State Security Service. Occupied South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov signed a decree on pardoning 53-year-old Georgian citizen Gennady Bestaev yesterday.

Bestaev was arrested in November 2019 on charges of illegally crossing the “state border” of the republic and drug smuggling, and was later sentenced to three years and two months in prison. According to the Ossetian media, the decision to pardon Bestaev was made due to his illness.
