Ukrainian Foreign Ministry condemns “Common Socio-Economic Space Development Program" between Russian and "administration" of Abkhazia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ukraine responds to the agreement reached on "Common Socio-Economic Space Development Program" between the representatives of the Russian Federation and the "administration" of Abkhazia.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns and does not recognize the adoption of this program and assesses such actions as another attempt by Russia to annex the occupied territories of Georgia. The Russian Federation continues its aggression against neighboring states and the occupation of their sovereign territories, grossly violating the principles and norms of international law, consistently and purposefully undermining international and regional security.

These actions of the Russian Federation have a negative impact on the humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, and in particular undermine the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolutions on the situation of IDPs and refugees from Abkhazia," reads the statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expresses its support for Georgia's sovereignty and its territorial integrity and calls on Russia to fulfill its obligations under the August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement.
