Russian Foreign Ministry: Abashidze and Karasin discussed prospects of restoring air traffic between two countries

The Russian Foreign Ministry has responded to the online meeting between Zurab Abashidze, Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia for Relations with the Russian Federation, and Grigory Karasin, Member of the Federal Council of the Russian Federation. According to the information posted on the website of the Ministry, the parties discussed various issues, including the prospects of restoring air traffic between the two countries.

“The prospects for the restoration of air traffic between the two countries were discussed at the meeting. The conditions for the above are well known: to stop anti-Russian rhetoric in Georgia and to ensure security of Russian citizens. Besides, the epidemiological situation must be normalized in both countries”, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.

According to the Ministry, the conversation also focused on "baseless accusations" against Russia, Abkhazia and the so-called South Ossetia regarding "borderization" and "illegal detentions."

"In response to the baseless allegations made against Russia, as well as our Abkhazian and South Ossetian partners, regarding the so-called "borderization" and "illegal" arrests, it was said that it was about ensuring the safety of people. The need to stop provocations and to prevent the illegal crossing of the state border by Georgia was stressed, as well as the need to discuss the issues in a constructive manner in the format of the Geneva International Talks," the Russian Foreign Ministry says in the statement posted on its website.
