Anatoly Bibilov: Imprisonment for one year and nine months is an adequate sentence for Vazha Gaprindashvili

Anatoly Bibilov, de facto President of so-called South Ossetia, has commented on the case of Georgian doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili. He said that "imprisonment for one year and nine months is an adequate sentence for the doctor."

“I cannot say that the court's ruling is strict or cruel. A person who breaks the law must be held accountable, especially when a person deliberately does so, he must be punished. The only thing that is unfortunate is that this situation is being politicized,” Bibilov said.

According to him, Western and Georgian politicians do not respond to the Georgian side's violations of international norms.

“The Georgian authorities have illegally placed their chckpoints on the border and thus violated all norms of law,” Bibilov said.

The above is the first official comment of the de facto President on Vazha Gaprindashvili's case.
