Vladimir Putin hints possibility of scatter of Islamic State fighters to other territories

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not rule out possibility of scatter of captured Islamic State fighters to other territories, RIA Novosty has reported.

“In the north of Syria, there are areas where Islamic State fighters are concentrated. They are still guarded by Kurdish military units. Now the Turkish army enters there, the Kurds are dropping these camps. They just can scatter," Putin said.

The Russian President emphasized that in these zones there are hundreds of militants. "I'm not sure if the Turkish army can quickly take control of it," he added.

Turkey has said that Operation Peace Spring, which began on Wednesday, aimed at creating the “safe zone” near the Syrian-Turkish border.
