Ukraine's Chief Military Prosecutor's Office launches criminal case based on Saakashvili’s appeal

Ukraine's Chief Military Prosecutor's Office has launched a criminal into the appeal, filed by former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Ukrainian media has reported.

"The Chief Military Prosecutor's Office received an appeal from former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili about his abduction, violent acts against him and his illegal transfer to Poland in February 2018," the Prosecutor's Office said.

In July of 2017, then President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko deprived Mikheil Saakashvili of his citizenship. In February last year, Saakashvili was detained in Kyiv, taken to the airport, and flown to Poland. Days later, Ukraine's border service banned Saakashvili from entering Ukraine until February 13, 2021.
