Maria Zakharova: The so-called borderization is being carried out not by the Russian but by the "South Ossetian side"

According to Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, the so-called borderization is being carried out not by the Russian but the "South Ossetian side".

According to her, Georgian and Western journalists and politicians are reporting in connection with the 11th anniversary of the 2008 conflict that "Russia continues its long-term military-diplomatic campaign of division and seizure of the Georgian state."

"Russian border guards, who serve on the border under an agreement signed between the Russian Federation and South Ossetia, are not performing any work currently at the border between the two countries."

“The border arrangement is regularly carried out by the South Ossetian side. The aim is to create safe and peaceful living conditions for the populations of the two neighboring states. Such steps facilitate elimination of quite frequent incidents of accidental border crossings,” a Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
