German Bundestag classifies Georgia as safe country

The German Bundestag approved the draft law granting the status of "safe countries of origin" to Georgia and Maghreb countries.

As InterPressNews was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 509 members of the Bundestag voting in favor of the motion and 138 against it.

"The draft law requires the approval of the Bundesrat [the upper house of the parliament]. Accordingly, the draft law will be forwarded for further procedures to the Bundesrat, which holds its sittings once a month, "the Ministry said.
