“We want to show Georgia that we are committed to engaging in strengthening security in Georgia in every possible way and through all the tools available to our organization,” said the OSCE Secretary General, Feridun Sinirlioğlu, during a joint press conference with Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili.
As the OSCE Secretary General noted, the organization supports both Georgia and the countries of the region as a whole.
“Thank you for your hospitality. I’m very pleased to be in Tbilisi today. This is my first visit to Georgia as Secretary General of the OSCE. Of course, I am devoted to serving the interests of all countries that are members of our organization. I want to emphasize that the OSCE is highly interested in and supportive of both Georgia and all the countries of this region.
The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) is now nearly sixty years old. It is an organization that has repeatedly demonstrated the importance of maintaining dialogue—especially between regions and countries in conflict. We have a wide range of mediation tools that we use in such cases. We constantly strive to be involved in conflict resolution efforts.
Stability in Georgia is vitally important—not only for its people, but also for the broader interests of the region and for establishing security and stability throughout it. In this regard, we have been working with Georgia for decades. Once again, I want to stress that we want to demonstrate to Georgia our full commitment to supporting the strengthening of security in the country through every perspective and all the resources available to the OSCE,” Sinirlioğlu stated.
