Irakli Kobakhidze: The footage shows how a specific so-called journalist physically assaults a police officer; everyone must understand that the police are inviolable

"Everyone must understand that a police officer is inviolable; the police represent the state, represent the strength of the state, and any action against them is a very serious criminal offense," stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in regard to the director of "Batumelebi," Mzia Amaglobeli.

As Kobakhidze noted, in such cases, the state is obligated to take appropriate measures.

"Everyone must understand that the police are inviolable, the police represent the state, represent the strength of the state, and especially when it comes to a high-ranking police officer, any action against them is absolutely unacceptable, and not only unacceptable, but it is a very serious criminal offense. The court will decide on the rest, but everything is clear today. Such an action is absolutely unacceptable, it is a crime, and of course, in such cases, the state is obliged to take appropriate measures. The state, within its competence, will take all measures concerning each incident. I don't know what montage they are talking about, when everything is right before your eyes, and everything is visible in the footage, how a specific so-called journalist physically assaults a police officer. In reality, this person is not a journalist, but a party activist. However, this doesn't matter for the investigation. What matters for the investigation is that there are signs of a crime, and the court must issue a ruling regarding this," said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
