Salome Zurabishvili: "It is not enough to simply call for elections, elections. Elections require preparation on all fronts, and I am ready to help you with this as well. It is essential for your strength to emerge in the country, for you to know who you are and where you stand, so that in the next elections, there will no longer be talk of 'I don't like this party or that party.' If you don't like them, create your own! Your time has come!"
She made this statement during her speech at the rally in Zugdidi, adding that now is the time for new parties to be established, reflecting the Georgia that is "being born today."
"The public wants a peaceful resolution to this great crisis. That resolution is free elections. This is what our friends abroad are calling for, this is what we demand, and we will achieve it. But to achieve it, we must be ready. It is not enough to simply demand elections, elections. Elections require preparation on all fronts, and I am ready to help with that as well. Your strength must emerge in this country, so you know who you are and where you stand. That way, in the next elections, there will no longer be talk of 'I don't like this party or that party.' If you don't like them, create your own! Your time has come. Those parties will also have their place. Diversity is this country's strength, but new parties are indeed necessary, reflecting the new Georgia that is being born today.
Preparation is essential—observers must be ready. This should not be postponed for tomorrow; it should have started yesterday. Standing up is good, but preparing for what we need tomorrow is even better.
We must not be unprepared for the upcoming elections. I, personally, am working to establish the conditions necessary to ensure that you, we, and everyone can believe the elections will truly be free and fair. This is how we will find peace. There is no other way. For this country and this region, there is no other path if we want peace, freedom, and democracy. That path is well-prepared elections, which we will fully protect. We know very well that the previous elections were not only falsified but done so using sophisticated methods that could only have been devised abroad. But it is also true that we were not as prepared as we should have been because we were confident we were the majority—which we were—and confident we would win. Now, we must be both confident and prepared. This is our duty—yours and mine—in this peaceful struggle, and together, we will undoubtedly prevail.
Glory to Georgia!" - stated Salome Zurabishvili.
